This post could have / should have been written over two decades ago.
My fiancé was busy planning the wedding, so I took on the honeymoon. I contacted a travel agent and decided on a three day cruise to the Bahamas and four days in Disney. We were living in Carmel, IN at the time.
This was also way before digital cameras, and before either of us really had a photography bug. Sure, I liked to shoot, but this was our honeymoon.
Neither of us had taken a cruise before and other than seeing “Love Boat”, we had not seen a cruise ship. We flew into Orlando and rented a car (yes, we could have shuttled… but….). As we are crossing the causeway to Port Canaveral, we saw our first ship and we were not even close yet. It was huge and just getting bigger. By the time we got to the port, the size was overwhelming. That was several years ago and the ships have not gotten smaller. Well, there was ONE case where we went on a smaller ship, our cruise from hell, but that is another story and another post.
This cruise was amazing, the food, the destination, the activities…. wow. We were hooked.
After the cruise, we went back to Orlando to Disney World. When we checked in at the Dolphin, the desk clerk sailor room was not yet ready. We had gotten in early, so we understood. I mentioned it was our honeymoon and she excused herself and when she came back, she gave us a corner suite and said it would be ready in an hour. Disney truly is a magical place.
