The Tower Bridge (Not the London Bridge)

We landed in London and had a long wait getting through immigration. Several flights came in at once. Once through though, we met our Globus rep and checked in. We had a bit more time to wait as not every had checked in yet. Once everyone was checked in with the rep, we were led to the buses. There were singles and couples, young and old and we found out that not everyone was on our tour. Several other tours were starting and the bus had several stops. We got off at our hotel, Le Merdian (then located at the Arch on the edge of Hyde Park).

We got our room right away. It was suggested that we go out and wander, staying awake to help avoid the jet-lag. We decided to take an hours nap. We then showered and went out.

We were too late for the afternoon tour, so we just went out free-styling. After all, this is London and there is so much to see and do, lots of history and lots of shopping. We walked down to Piccadilly Circus and grabbed some lunch.

We took to the tubes and went the British Museum. We have been to large museums before, in New York and in Chicago (just to name a few). This museum was massive and we barely scratched the surface, seeing maybe 4 or 5 exhibits/displays before we felt it was time for us to head back to the hotel where we crashed.

Our tour was just getting started….tomorrow.
