We got up early again this morning to leave for the island of Capri with our overnight stop in Sorrento. As it is habit now, we are up by six, luggage out by seven, on the bus by eight. It become a mantra. We were told we didn’t want to miss the boat. We got in Napoli in time. We did not stop/tour in Napoli (Naples). Instead, we went straight to the dock.
We boarded the jet boat and went to the island of Capri on the bay of Naples. As soon as we got off the boat, we are told we HAD to head down to another small boat to see “the Blue Grotto”. It is a small cave that you can only access from the sea and then only by row boat. The wait for this attraction was over two hours and in a small boat. Almost half our party didn’t want to wait, including us. We took off on another boat back to the marina we then went to the beach wading into the blue waters. Chris, Chad, Jennifer, Teresa and myself went up the cable car from the marina to Anna Capri. We didn’t have much time, but did some sightseeing and grab a snack. Roman eventually joined us just in time to head back down it was a sight to see them trying to get all of us in the same car/trip. Roman was insistent and I thought they were either going to arrest him or throw them off the side of the mountain. When we got down to the marina we got herded into another boat and off we went to Sorrento.
The streets in Sorrento were too narrow for the coach, so we had to take a shuttle bus up to the town. We got to our hotel and had to walk through this beautiful botanical garden to get to the hotel, Villa Parco. It was on a cliff overlooking the bay of Naples. Our room was facing the bay and have a balcony overlooking it . Poor Chris though, she was pissed! Her and Chad had room was facing the parking lot with only a little window. She tried to get them to change her room and was turned down. Laslo was no help either.
Chad and Chris joined us as we went into town. We went out to dinner and then walked the streets, stopping in all the little shops. There were many shops offering ornate boxes with intricate inlays, and offerings of the limoncello. We shopped and talked and then wandered the town. The shops were open the people were friendly and we even found a gelato shop giving free samples.
We get back to the Square in time to catch the bus. We got back to the hotel and invited Chris and Chad up to share our balcony for a while we sat and talked until 11 or so watching the city lights across the bay or staring at the sky looking for shooting stars we eventually retired, worn out.
